Federal Agency Publication & Data Sharing Policy Overview & FAQ Events

August 5 and 20, 2025, 1pm ET / 10am PT

In response to the 2022 Nelson Memo, federal agencies are required to update their public access policies by the end of this year. New policies are now in effect for several agencies, including the NIH, CDC, AHRQ, DOE, and NASA. On August 5th at 1pm ET / 10am PT, Authors Alliance and SPARC will host a webcast focusing on new publications sharing requirements, providing an overview of key elements of these policies, highlighting the differences between them, and answering participants’ questions. You can register for the August 5th event here, and submit longer / additional questions here.

This webcast will be part of an ongoing series designed to support administrators and librarians in their efforts to ensure compliance with these policies as they come online. On August 20th at 1pm ET / 10am PT, we will host a second webcast focusing on agency data sharing requirements. This event will provide an overview of key elements of agency data sharing requirements and allow plenty of time for participants to ask questions. You can register for the August 20th event here, and submit longer / additional questions here.

These events are open to those working at academic institutions and will be recorded. Through the registration forms above, participants are encouraged to ask questions in advance.
