Reminder to Support Authors Alliance

Authors Alliance Logo

So far this year, Authors Alliance has worked tirelessly to ensure that the voices of authors who write to advance the public good are heard in debates over laws, policies, and practices that affect the ways that authors reach their audiences. Over the last few months we’ve collaborated with SPARC to create resources and host events to help authors navigate the ongoing rollout of federal public access policies at the NIH and elsewhere, and will continue to update our guidance as new information becomes available.

Artificial intelligence has become a major issue for many authors. Given the large number of AI lawsuits, authors’ legal rights are in jeopardy. We’ve worked to ensure that the views of authors who support fair use, open access, and wide dissemination and use of their works are not co-opted by rightsholders who have opposing views. We’ve done this through amicus briefs in ongoing AI copyright litigation, and by pushing back on proposed legislation that would inhibit free expression. We’re also working to help authors better understand the legal dimensions of AI by creating guidance such as our FAQs for AI.

Authors Alliance’s existence is not guaranteed. Especially in a moment when grant funding is limited, we depend heavily on individual contributions like yours to continue to work on behalf of authors who write to share new insights and advance human knowledge. We ask you to consider donating to help us provide another year of services, resources, and advocacy.

Even if you are unable to give at this time, there are still plenty of ways to show your support:
