Authors Alliance 2025 Annual Report

We’re pleased to share our 2025 annual report, where you can find highlights of our work this year to create guidance and promote laws, policies, and practices that enable authors to serve the public good by sharing their creations as broadly as possible. 

Our success this past year was largely due to the wonderful collaboration and support we have from our members. You’ll see in the report a number of ongoing projects and issues we are working to address: legal questions about open access publishing and federal public access policies, the ever-changing legal landscape of AI and copyright, continuing to support text data mining research, addressing contractual override of fair use, our Future Knowledge podcast, and more. As we look to 2026, we would love to hear if you have a special interest in any of these projects and would like to contribute your ideas, time, or expertise to help us tackle them.

We’re also grateful for those of you who contributed financially to make 2025 a success. Authors Alliance is funded almost entirely by gifts and grants, and so we truly rely on you. As we end the year, we hope you will consider giving if you haven’t done so already. You can donate here.
